Biopsychosocial (bps) assessments

Behavioral Assistance

Intensive In-Community Services (IIC) provide short term, community-based therapeutic interventions designed to support and stabilize youth with moderate to complex behavioral needs.


IIC services are provided to the youth and families in the home/community by licensed clinicians over eight (8) weeks, with targeted Interventions designed to reduce or stabilize behaviors.

Behavioral Assistance

Behavioral assistance services are provided by bachelor-level staff in the youth's home or community. The focus is on behavioral modification, coping skill enhancement, and modeling to decrease high-risk behaviors. Services are time-limited and focuses on transferring skills to the family and transitioning the family to community-based services and supports.

 A BPS is a one-time, in-home assessment that is completed by an independently licensed clinician and, upon completion, is submitted to PerformCare for review and determination of appropriate behavioral health services. A BPS may be offered if a youth has no current treatment provider and if the youth has moderate to severe emotional/beha

A BPS may be offered if a youth has no current treatment provider and if the youth has moderate to severe emotional/behavior health concerns that do not require immediate assistance through crisis services

parent coaching

 Parent Coaches are highly trained Master's and Licensed Level Clinicians whom assist parents and caregivers develop skills and strategies to navigate family challenges and strengthen relationships and communication with youth and family members. 

How can my child get services?

Living in Wellness Counseling Services is contracted through Performcare, who partners with the New Jersey Children’s System of Care (CSOC) to provide publicly funded Intensive In-Community (IIC) services to youth, up to age 21, throughout Essex, Hudson, Union and Bergen counties. 


To obtain services with Living in Wellness Counseling Services, contact Performcare through a single point of entry at 1-877-652-7624 to establish services for behavioral health or substance abuse services. This hotline operates 24 hours, 7 days a week.
